What was behind the boldness that David had against Goliath? What gave David this boldness? Also, what was behind the “lack of” boldness behind the trained soldiers? David wasn’t a trained soldier, yet he had boldness. David had faith in God. He had faith with experience! It is very important that the right faith is behind your boldness, because you can also become bold in a lie!
“A NEW heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put My spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgements, and do them…and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God…Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loath yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.” Ezekiel 36:26-30
We’ve all read about the new heart, but today I would like to underscore the SIGNS of a NEW heart. “I will cause you to walk in My statutes…” The Spirit (not the doing of your own soul) will cause you to obey His statutes. So the natural desire to do Truth is one of the signs of a new heart. Also, you will loath yourself in your own sight, in other words, you will have feelings against your old self before you had a new heart, how you used to be. The Israelites were called out of Egypt, out of bondage and oppression, and yet – once they left – most of them wanted to go back. Why is that? This is an image for us today. A person who was taken out of sin, was freed from sin – and then desires to go back? Why does that happen?
