“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
Renewing of your mind – what does that mean? Does that mean that you continuously and slowly reform your mind? Does that mean that you thought by thought make your mind better? Renewing of your mind happens on the cross. It happens once, when you are buried and resurrected in Jesus Christ! After you have a brand new mind, then your mind is renewed every day, because you grow in your new mind. The old mind has to be put to death, and the new mind has to be born again. That is the teaching of Jesus Christ. But what is your mind? Is your mind in your head? Your mind is actually in your heart. It includes understanding, knowledge, judgement, thoughts, and all of those things come from your heart.
The days go by, the weeks, the months, the years.
And I can hear the clock is sharply ticking.
But in my heart, I feel that something’s missing,
I try to fill the void, to change my self.
I watch my words, control the thoughts, the fears.
They all consume my mind, my wishful thinking.
But in my core I sense that something’s missing.
Can anyone explain what’s wrong with me?
We as humans always think about something. Initially, when Adam and Eve were created, their thoughts were mostly about what to eat, or where to sleep. But a lot has changed since then. When man ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, their thoughts changed. Their way of thinking became full with evil intentions, with an evil heart. However, Jesus came with the opposite state, with a pure heart, completely different from Adam. Now we have a choice to obtain that same pure heart!
