Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. Mark 10:15

The other day, I asked my children if they recall how God created us, how God created a man. My oldest daughter immediately answered that God created a man from the earth (ground) and breathed into him the breath of life. (Genesis 2:7) Although we have spoken of this before with the children, it was as if the younger children heard it for the first time! They were both so astonished and amazed! They pointed to their arms and with astonishment said, “This is dirt!” It wasn’t even a question – it was simply an expression of their astonishment! Further, we spoke how from dust a man was made, and to dust a man (his body) will return. But the living soul – either goes to Heaven (to God) or to eternal damnation.

I was so edified by the children’s reaction of hearing how man was created. Later that day, when their dad came home, they couldn’t wait to share this information with him! As soon as they saw him, they excitedly shared, “Papa, this is dirt! God created us from dirt!”

This made me recall the scripture, that whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God like a child, he shall not enter! What does this mean? Why did Jesus use a little child here as an example?

“And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.” Mark 10:13-15

When my little children heard they were created from the ground/earth, they simply believed it! They didn’t try to prove it. They didn’t go to the backyard, dig out a sample of dirt, grab a microscope, study the components and elements of dirt, and then compared it with a sample of their skin. They didn’t even say, “Wait a minute, but my body looks nothing like dirt to me!” Or, “It doesn’t look like dirt, it doesn’t feel like dirt, it doesn’t smell like dirt. Therefore, it must not be true – it must not be dirt!” Or, “I don’t know about that – I’ll believe it after evidence is found…”

And this is the kind of faith that is necessary, faith like a child, to receive the kingdom of God! Without this kind of faith – the kingdom of God cannot be received!

Just as little children simply believe their parents, what their parents tell them, we should simply believe what God said! We should simply believe the Word of God, written in Scripture, without any “buts” or hesitations. “But it doesn’t look like it to me, it doesn’t feel like it to me, it doesn’t smell like it to me. Therefore, it must not be so!” Or, “But pastor so and so said this…” Or, “But my experience proves otherwise…”

Therefore, if the Word of God says that He was manifested to take away our sins – believe this simply as a child! That means – reject and go against your understanding, your feelings, your experience, your vision – and simply accept the Word of God! If God said so, then it is Truth! What do your feelings, experience, or your understanding have anything to do with it!? The Truth is the Truth, whether you feel, experience, or understand otherwise!

I have received the kingdom of God, because I chose to reject everything of my own, my feelings, my understanding, my vision – and have chose to simply, as a child, accept the Word of God! My faith is built solely on the Word of God, that is my foundation, no matter what anyone around me says, does, or thinks!

And ye know that He was manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not… Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous. He that commiteth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” 1 John 3:5-10

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him…For in that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also ourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans chapter 6
