A person lives his daily routine. He wakes up in the morning, drinks coffee from his favorite cup, eats breakfast, and usually runs off to work. After work or at the end of the day, he can’t wait to get back home, perhaps get back to his family or simply relax, unwind. Although some where deep down he has the fear of death, this fear is usually ignored or subdued by different pastimes, hobbies, or the daily cares.

Suddenly, warnings come of a natural catastrophe. A hurricane warning is issued, a category 4 or 5, it is coming your way! Suddenly, only one thing matters at that moment: your life! The salvation of your flesh! And that fear of death, which “quietly” followed you all along, is louder than ever before! But instead of reflecting and figuring out why is it that I am experiencing this fear, a person tries to do everything he can to save his physical life. When in known danger, what will a person do to save his life? He’s ready to leave all behind and go! He’s ready to do whatever it takes to save his life! And perhaps he will be able to escape the natural catastrophe. But what person will be able to escape death? No one! The time will come for every person to depart from this world! And in the end, this world will pass!

“He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal… For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” John 12:25, 1 Thes. 5:2-5

I once too had this fear of death, until the Lord revealed to me, that this is Him knocking at my heart, at my door! So instead of ignoring this fear or convincing yourself that you are not afraid, delve deeper to figure out why you are afraid! I was afraid, because deep down, I knew that I was not His, that I was not saved, that I was not righteous before God. If you are His, you will have no fear! You will be ready to go to your Father at any moment! In fact, you will look forward to this, just like a bride awaiting her groom!

So let us not be foolish, constantly running away, avoiding this fear of death. Let us use the precious time wisely, for the salvation of our souls!

The Lord is knocking at your door, how much longer will you ignore?
The day is coming, it is near, where what you’ve lived for will be clear!

The Lord is knocking at your door, how much longer will you ignore?
The hour is coming, and is near, and if your His, you’ll have no fear!

If you’re baptized into His death,
In Him you also resurrect!
For he that’s dead is freed from sin,
A new man you walk in Him!

To live for Christ, you have to die, give up your life, believe no lie!
For all is passing, it will be gone, it will not matter what you’ve done!

Is Christ your Life, is your heart pure? Have you made your calling sure?
The Lord is knocking at your door, this time His voice do not ignore!
