With words you can hurt people, push someone away; with words you can gain a person, hold them up; with words you can start a war and with words you can stop this very same war. Words are All around us: on the radio, on Facebook, on television, or how today is very common – on our mobile devices. Words can make you happy – for example, when you hear goods news. Likewise, words can make you sad – when you hear or read of sad news. Words really do have power! They have power to destroy, power to build up. But sometimes, I think that we do not give enough credit or importance to the power and action of words.
Lately, I experience these verses, which fill up my heart, and give me peace and joy. So I decided to share:
If ye then be risen with Christ, SEEK THOSE THINGS which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. SET YOUR AFFECTION on things above, NOT on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and YOUR LIFE is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, WHO IS OUR LIFE, shall appear, then shall YOU ALSO appear with Him in glory… Let THE WORD of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with GRACE in your hearts to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:1-16)
Our life is like this tree you see here in the picture. One day it is a very powerful tree… It took a lot of time and energy to get there. It needs to grow a great root system in order to get water, minerals, and nutrition… And finally it got the result: it covers a lot of plants and people walking by are amazed by it. A lot of birds and animals might find cover under this tree. It is the same with our life. It can be beautiful… some people will be looking at it and say: “It is so good! You are doing great! You are awesome!” But in the end… The end for this tree is the same as for the simple grass or an ugly weed: compost!
If your life is not for God, everything will pass… People, who admired you, will step over you, because they will see another “beautiful tree”…
And Bible clearly speaks about this:
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away.” (1 Peter 1:24)
And the Good news is that we can have a different life, a different GOAL or purpose of our life:
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” (1 Peter 1:23-25)
So let’s be seeking for eternal Life, life for God! Let’s not waste our power and energy for the “life” which will pass, and the fruit of it will be death! Let’s be looking for LIFE!
To become popular and powerful in this world, you have to seek and feed from earthly things. But you should understand, if it was taken from earth, it will return to earth:
For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that SOWETH TO HIS flesh shall of the flesh REAP CORRUPTION; but he that SOWETH TO THE SPIRIT shall of the Spirit REAP LIFE EVERLASTING” (Galatians 6:7,8)
To be glorified and powerful in God’s world, we have to seek and feed from His World. And we can find it in the Bible, His Word, His Truth. And the result will be:
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance” (Galatians 5:22,23)
