“And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” (Luke 4:4)
When the Lord was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, after 40 days he hungered, and the tempter came to him and said: If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. And Jesus answered him, it is written, that “man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Luke chapter 4
People pay much attention to the body. For the non-believers, in whom the “god” of this world has blinded their eyes, there is nothing else except for the body. Everything is around it and for it! People pleasure it with color (suit/costume), feed it with food, wash it so that it will not smell as bad, complain when the body is uncomfortable, etc. When it is hot – sweaty, when cold – bad! When rain – wet! Didn’t get enough sleep – bad! Didn’t eat enough, also bad, ate too much – bloating! The body got sick – everyone is at fault! And the list goes on and on! A person is enslaved to his body, turned it into lust, and there is nothing else in this world. It is the libertine and immoral/impudent, always unhappy, they believe all the day to enjoy the luxury. Fierce waves foaming with their diplomas. For what is the life of a person? A vapor that appears for a short time and disappears again. The flesh is like grass, and the glory of man as the color on the grass! The grass withers and it’s color fades. There is a song about Volga, the river Volga flows from afar and for a long time, and I am 17 years old. Didn’t get the chance to look back, the Volga river flows from afar and for a long time, and I am now 80 years old.
The image of this world passes. Old age comes and with it comes emptiness. If you were young, you had goals – to get married, children, house, money, car – all obtained for the life that God has given to man so that he finds the One and Only, the Immortal, the Blessed God – so as to live! But no, the earthly is ahead (in front of him), the body needs to be warmed, to caress and please, and God will wait. And here came old age, he obtained all, had time for everything in life, but alas, he hurt his soul and destroyed his life! “For what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Matthew 6:16
The body – is subject to decay, it is the wages of sin for man. The Lord came to earth and gave His body to death so that we would no longer live for ourselves, by the flesh, but for He that died and resurrected, who will transform our body in the power of His glorious incorruptible body!
The Lord in the flesh was talking about it – the flesh profits little! The man shall not live by bread alone, but by the word of God. And God will destroy both the food and the stomach. But the one that does His will endures forever!
We need to understand, that the Lord can take away this very night your soul, therefore we should always be ready to leave the body!
“But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided. So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:20-21
