“But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct. Because it is written be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1: 15 & 16
Have you ever wondered what this means?
How can we possibly be holy? We are just people and well, people aren’t perfect, right? Wrong!
We all come from Adam, which means our nature is sinful, but it doesn’t have to stay sinful. We can simply be free from this sinful nature of ours. I can testify that I am truly free from sin and that I am holy. Now you may say, “Whoa! How can you even begin to say that?!” Let me explain. I, as a person, am a regular person and there is nothing special about me. I am holy not because it is something that I achieved or did or even deserved. As a matter of fact the only thing I did was just simply believe!
So then you may ask, “What did you believe?”
Well, I believe that when Jesus Christ died on the cross, He truly died for me, as He did for everyone!! Not only did He die on the cross, but I also died for my old nature, believing that what He did on the cross frees me from sin.
Romans 6: 7-8 “For He who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him. He is now in me and this is why I am holy and sin free.”
Romans 6:10-11 “For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives for God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
I also was in need of a Savior, because I did not believe the true word of God and so I was a sinner. I always thought I knew God and I would pray when in need, but I never truly knew Him and He was never really my life. I never saw myself as such a bad person, but I also was not a good person. Now I am not bad or good, I am holy, because of His great mercy and sacrifice. Jesus’ sacrifice was not for nothing, not so that a person would keep repenting of their sins, but to Truly free us from this bondage and I experience this freedom! I am free from sin, nor do I even have a desire to sin. The devil has no hold on me for I am now hidden in Christ. I experience complete righteousness, peace, and joy.
Romans 14:17 “For the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but Righteousness, and Peace, and Joy in the Holy Ghost.”
Now let me ask you, what is your state? Do you truly experience righteousness, peace, and joy?
Are you truly free from this bondage of sin?
Romans 6:22 “But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end everlasting life.”
Romans 6:11 “Likewise you also be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. I only desire for you to truly be saved and have everlasting life.”
Revelations 21:27 “But there shall by no means enter anything that defiles or causes an abomination or a lie but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”
Colossians 1:22&28 “In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblamable and unprovable in his sight: whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every men perfect in Christ Jesus.”
If not, then ask yourself, why is the Bible talking about this?
